The Urinary System, also known as the Renal System, plays a crucial role in maintaining the body’s internal environment by regulating the volume and composition of blood. This system is responsible for the removal of waste products and excess substances from the bloodstream, ensuring that the body’s internal environment remains stable and balanced. The primary organs involved in the urinary system are the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra.

In this class, we will discuss the anatomy and physiology of the Urinary System, and will include urinary and kidney disorders commonly seen in correctional patients.  We will also discuss nursing interventions for the patient with a urinary or kidney disorder.
